Tucked between honey-coloured cliffs, Praia dos Caneiros is one of the most photographed coves in the western Algarve. The sea is usually calm and clear, sheltered from the wind, and the small offshore rock has become a symbol of Ferragudo. It is the beach on the doorstep of Caneiros Luxury House & Suites — around 350 metres away on foot.
Where it is and how to get there
The beach lies in the parish of Ferragudo, municipality of Lagoa, a few minutes' drive from Carvoeiro and Ferragudo village. From the EN125, head towards Ferragudo and then to Praia dos Caneiros via the Vale da Azinhaga road. There is parking near the beach, but in summer it fills up early — arrive in the morning or late afternoon.
What makes this beach special
- Calm, shallow water along the shore, ideal for families with children.
- Cliffs and rock formations that create sheltered corners and late-afternoon shade.
- The Rei das Praias restaurant, right on the sand, for a fresh-fish lunch almost with your feet in the sand.
- One of the finest sunsets in the area, with the rock silhouetted against the orange sky.
The best time to visit
From June to September the beach has a lifeguard on duty and is busier. For a quieter experience, May, June and September offer sunshine, pleasant water and far fewer people. Out of season, Praia dos Caneiros is a perfect setting for seaside walks and unhurried sunsets.
Staying close to the beach
Staying at Caneiros Luxury House & Suites means the beach is a short walk away, with the pool, spa and Lobby Bar to return to. It is the most comfortable way to enjoy Praia dos Caneiros at the Algarve's own pace.
